Specialty Massage Therapy
***Prenatal Massage for Mom-to-Be****
There's nothing like a soothing prenatal massage to ease the pains and strains of pregnancy.
Depending on the comfort level of mom, Matrix Massage offers prenatal massage using a pregnancy bolster and cushions, or in side-lying position.
***Hot Stone Massage Therapy***
During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body as well as used as part of the massage stroke techniques to help you relax and ease tense muscles throughout your body.
***Kinesiology Taping (K-Tape)***
K-Tape is a safe, effective, low risk way to give your body a nudge in the right direction towards less pain and better function.
K-Tape is used to lift the skin over the affected area. This decompression allows pain receptors to send a new signal to the brain, and tension in the area decreases.
Cupping Massage Therapy
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine, using cups as suction on select parts of your body to reduce pain, inflammation in muscles, and to relax. The thought of cups attached to your body may sound scary, but don’t worry, because it’s only for a few minutes with minimal pain! Studies have shown cupping significantly reduces pain as it sedates the central nervous system, putting you in a mode of utter relaxation. Not only can it relax you, but it can help protect you against anxiety and depression. Cupping is a stress reliever, which can also lead to a healthy digestive system, since most digestive issues are caused by high amounts of stress. Cupping helps improve immune function by moving blood and lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Marks may be left after a cupping treatment, these are not bruises, but are indicators of stagnation in muscles.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Manual lymphatic drainage is a very gentle form of massage that encourages flow and drainage to the lymphatic system which is part of our immune system and is responsible for protecting your body from illness causing invaders, removing cellular waste and maintaining body fluid levels. Blockages in the lymph system result in swelling and manual lymphatic drainage helps to clear that. It is also used before and after surgery to encourage proper drainage and minimize swelling.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in which thin needles are inserted into strategic points of the body's meridians to re-balance energy flow and to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue.
Instrument Assisted Massage
Instrument Assisted Massage is a type of soft tissue manipulation that uses rigid devices to deliver directed and targeted forces to specific tissue to provide a mobilizing effect to scar tissue and myofascial adhesions. The rigid devices can be made of different materials to manage and treat soft tissue dysfunction. These instruments provide a mobilizing effect to soft tissue to release scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions in order to decrease pain and increase range of motion and function.
